What to bring, and what to leave at home.
Everything needs to fit in a couple of bags. Read this before you pack, because some of what people bring gets taken at the door.
Pack these
Clothes
- Casual wear for everyday
- Exercise clothes
- Comfortable pajamas — you will want them during detox
Documents and medication
- Photo identification
- Insurance information
- Any medication you have been prescribed
Over-the-counter medicine that is not still sealed will be destroyed on arrival, so bring it sealed or leave it.
Toiletries
Bring everything you need, but it must all be alcohol free. Fragrances are the exception: you can bring them, and they are kept in the staff office.
Not sure whether something is allowed?
Ask before you pack it. It saves an awkward conversation at the door.
Electronics
Some are fine. The rule is about protecting the early weeks, not cutting you off.

- Cell phones, with limitations on when and how they are used
- MP3 players and other music devices — provided they cannot connect to the internet and can only be heard through headphones

How much can I bring?
A couple of bags. Space in the houses is limited, so think about what you will actually use in thirty days rather than what you might want.
Can I keep my phone?
Yes, with limitations on when and how it is used. The point is to protect the first weeks, not to cut you off from your family.
What happens to things I am not allowed to keep?
Fragrances and similar items are stored in the staff office and returned to you. Contraband and unsealed over-the-counter medicine are destroyed.
Can someone bring me things later?
Usually yes, within the same rules. Ask on your first day and the staff will tell you how it works in your house.
What if I forget something?
It happens constantly and it is not a problem. Tell staff and it gets sorted out.
